as the magazines say, noting over 85 is legal in the class. so a 150 or 170 is not legal. so right now the manufactures will not make a bike without a class. so untill they get a class no.

I believe the AMA is still deciding upon the maximum cc size for the four stroke mini's. As it works now, the four stroke 400's & 450's race in the 250 class with the two strokes, the 250 four strokes race with the 125 two strokes. It probably won't be too long, rumor has that they are already testing and in the works. Just look around, all the manufacturers have an entry in almost all the big bike classes.....

Maybe you guys should re read the rules. You can have up to a 139 cc 4 stroke as the current ama rules say. you cant have over a 85 two stroke for sure though.

Comparing apples to oranges. Try thinking of it like this: is there a huge difference between a 125 2stroke mx bike and an XR250? Yes. Now, compare that XR250 to a CRF250...still a difference? Oh heck yeah. If they (the manufactures) were going to do it, don't you think they would build something (not currently offered) that would be competitive? Sure. Is there a 4stroke available now that would be competitive in the 85 class (and still be legal)? No. I can't figure out why this is so difficult to understand.
