I just came off an XR600 & was extremely worried that riding my my new CRFin tight woods would be the somewhat like riding a rocket sled through Manhattan (NY) streets. I have access to a 6-mile woods loop that has a little bit of everything. Mud, creek x-ings, moderate rocks, sand, loam, vines, roots, uphills, downhills, slick snot, hardpack, square-edged chop, etc. After ONE LAP this weekend, I knew the CRF was the answer to my prayers. I have increased each day by 1 lap & it just keeps feeling better& better! This bike is superior in every way to the old Six Honey. I'm glad to report that all those who say the CRF is not for off-road are lost. I didn't even adjust the suspension, but I weigh 230 lbs. It feels perfect to me just the way is is now! The only aftermarket product I have on the bike is a BBR endcap. I have no problem with the 19" rear wheel. I feel it actually makes the bike more stable somehow. I plan on installing a kickstand, my computer, & damper with narrower Pro Tapers & I think that's all it'll need. Naturally, I imagine you'll see a skid plate, 3.4 gal. tank, taller seat foam, Scott oil filter, etc. A guy told me not to mess with the gearing. He was right!
