What RPM does it supposedly kick in on these things?

I have an hour meter that also has a tach with Max RPM recall.  It doesn't react very quickly to RPM changes, so it reads the max RPM sustained for 2-3 seconds.  On a hardpack track with jumps, I thought I hit the rev limitter in the air, but it only read 8900 or so.  Today I took it out to a flat sandy area and held it on until in 3rd until I could hear it bouncing off the rev limitter.  Afterwards it read 10,000 exactly.

Oh yeah...it was my kid's 04. (Shh...don't tell him because I didn't have permission beforehand)

Gomer, the only rev-limiter I ever hit is my right wrist on the bar when I'm drinkin'.

Gomer - I've recorded as high as 10,647 rpm on my DAQ system without hitting the limiter on the CRF. I've heard from a few guys that have done dyno work that the limiter varies from 11,100 to 11,500 but that might be the variances in the dyno equipment.

Pulse tachs like the one used in a lot of hour meters have a tendency to miss a few revs at times.
