does anyone know the weight of rider that a stock 04 crf450's suspension is set up for? I have been told that the stock springs are set for a 175lb rider, and also I have been told that they are for a 205lb rider....anyone else know??

Well it depends on your type of riding and skill level. If you are an amature/novice motocross rider it will seem like it is sprung for a 205 pounder.

Go to www.racetech.com and do a spring search...it will ask you about your type of riding and skill level.

I'm thinking it was for the 175 lb rider because I'm 185 and I had to adjust it up a bit.

Set your race sag and then check the static sag...it will tell you if the spring is too stiff or too soft for your weight. I am 182 lbs and I had to change my spring (05 CRF450) to get the correct race/static sag. I run 4" race 1" sag depending on the track. If I am struggling a bit to get it to turn I decrease my race sag...and vise versa if it is is hooking too well in the turns. (fork rebound plays a part as well)
