Dude I'm still working one that and a kit lens, I would suggest your lineup is already more prolific so don't be casting your guilt my way :) If I get time away from getting stuff ready for this weekend I'll have to post some images from the past race. I am getting more comfortable with the 20D each week and man was I stoked with my past weekend. My keeper percentage has gone from roughly 70% with the 300D and using sports mode to about 95% using the 20D and controlling the camera myself in either AV/TV or full manual. I am so stoked I upgraded to the 20D!

I'm so glad I listened to you guys and went straight to it 20D, you saved me some $ that way, I'll deduct that from the other $ you cost me :) I'm so freakin weak with stuff like this, lol.

:bang:

I'm done! I've got the kit lens for wide stuff, it'll have to do and I've taken some pretty decent images with it, then the 24-70 2.8, the 50 1.8 and now the 70-200 2.8 so I'm covered, I really cant see anything else but maybe a 1.4 tcon. I won't be shooting birds, so I can avoid the big stuff.

I guess the fact that I can sell most of it for basically what I paid for it makes me feel a LITTLE better. A little.

I gotta go find some stuff to sell.

..

The 24-70 range lens will likely be my next purchase, the question is if it's the Tamron 28-75, the Sigma 24-70 or the Canon. I'll have to do some research to find out which one will be best for MX. Another upgrade I had considered but is now on the back burner due to mixed reviews is selling my 70-200 for a Sigma 120-300 f2.8.

Nice thread over there Doug! Funny how those guys can tell what lens you were using just by looking at the picture! Man, dare I post a couple over there? Specifically, those two I took at the local race 2-3 weeks ago...

Also-Who's got the cheapest 1gig CF cards at the moment? I need another for DW. Is anyone going to have a laptop to preview on? I'd just as soon delete the throw-aways right from the card if they are obviously out of focus or otherwise bad shots.

Lou, Don't know anything about the card you linked to and couldn't find it in the database at Rob Galbraiths site to compare the speed. I feel the best deal in CF cards right now is the Kingston Pro Elite 2GB cards http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820160033 . They are a 50x card but I've had real life comparison for speed to the Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III as I have 1 gig versions of both of those cards and the Kingston absolutely performs as well as either of those cards at a much more attractive price. As far as CF readers go I just got a Lexar firewire reader and WOW! mind you I was using a crappy Sandisk USB 1.1 prior to it.

wow! that price rocks. That's not a micro-drive, is it? Answer "no" and I'm off to buy online! :)

Chili.. you mentioned the sig 24-70 ...
Doing some test shots I got the following examples at 50mm, ISO 200, 2.8 with the Sig and my Canon 50mm prime. Just an FYI. Not fair putting a zoom against a prime, but hey. Not too bad! Stopped down at around 3.5, the sig is even closer to the canon.

Will put up a 70-200 sample when I get it (Friday?)

1) The Canon
2) The Sig

100% crop, crappy light (intentional)

Okie, I think you'd really have some fun with a fisheye. See, there's always more to buy. :)

The railing pickets, the window pane dividers and the siding lines seem noticeably sharper with the Canon.

Actually, I checked at sigma4less.com to check out the stats on the lens as I didn't know anything about it. They showed the lens "out of stock" about 9:00 PM last night.

Photokie got the last one apparently.

Has anyone done any tests comparing Canon and Sigma glass? Their prices are WAY better!
