Oke, I feel kind of stupid about this but must ask you this.
You can't open a thread or you read the word: deflection.
I think i understand what you all mean but to be sure can somebody explain it to me.
What is the feeling like, when does normally occur, is it rebound thingie, or a compression thingie.
Yes go ahead have a good laugh, but when finished pls explain it to me.

Basically, it's when the wheel bounces off (or deflects off) an obstacle (be it a rock, root, whatever) instead of absorbing the hit.

I'm sure you've experienced it. Riding along, hit "something" and suddenly the front end is 6" (or 15cm) off to the left (or right for that matter).

Make sense now? ;)

Very much, Jtt, thx
I asume with just one root/rock it is comp related then?
with several hits like braking bumps it can be rebound related aswell?

I have a '99 KDX and several times daily the rear will wildly deflect sideways--like 12 - 18" out of line !! [It's always triggered by hitting a rock] I've revalved the shock extremely light -both high & low speed comp & lightened the spring so I don't feel - at least in my case - that it's compression related . Wish I had a clue as it's very unnerving. My KX has'nt learned this trick yet.
