I was going to order front/rear Devol disc guards. Don't want to spent $$$ on a rear shark fin and even tho I don't like the look of the Devol front guard, I don't like the plastic front ones much either.

The Devol website lists the availability of the rear as:
KDX 200/220 2001-2004 Part# KD-0020

I've read some references to a rear caliper change on the KDX in threads about rear shark-fins. I called Devol and there response was "2001-2004 we can't guarantee it will work on a 1998". Does anyone know if it fits a 1998? I'd read threads about the spacer being the wrong size for some people also.

For the front they list:
KDX 200/220 1994-2005 KD-0010, Apart from the 1994 being a typo, this looks fine for the 98.

well look at the kawasaki part numbers, if they are the same then the guards will work also.

I did. Swingarm/rear-caliper part #s all look the same for the 1998 and the 2001.

On Devols website http://www.devolracing.com/products/Application_lists/Application-List-2005.htm

it says:

Year ------ Front --------- Rear
-------------- Guard ------- Guard
1994 ------ KD-0010 -- KX-0520
1995-97 - KD-0010 -- KX-0520
2001-04 - KD-0010 -- KD-0020

From what I know about the KDX model year revisions, the part# changes for the rear don't make a lot of sense.

look on buykawasaki.com if the swingarms have the same part numbers(if thats were it mounts) then it will fit. If it mounts on the cailper check those part numbers. I am 99.9% positive it will fit
