Just got my replacement front master and upon reading what fluid to use in it it says to use DOT 4 only.... not to me this is odd.... I have only seen DOT 3 and DOT 5 so is this needed or will DOT 3 work... Thnks Jeff.
It's completely fine to mix dot 3 and dot 4.. The difference is the DOT 3 is more likely to take in water from the moisture in the air. So the result is a much greater dry vs. wet boiling point. My recommendation is use some quality DOT 3 stuff, like Maxima's racing dot3 (550F), then just change it at least once a year. Do you car too, you'll be amazed at all the stuff in your lines.
