hey guys. i recently purchased a 1999 cr250. i need to replace the drive sprocket, i tried to do it and, im cracking sockets. are the threads reverse threaded? thanks.

Try a little heat. The screws may have been installed using Loc-tite. Heat will break down the Loc-tite.

you could also try using that wrench and hitting the top of it with another wrench in the direction to loosen it, seems to work good when your trying to loosen something with play.

cracking sockets?!?!?!?! thats pretty impressive, just get better sockets and try again, all the methods above sound good, liquid wrench is usually a solid choice too

im asking this because i've done it before are you loosening the nut on the back side of the sprocket first, or tried impact sockets they can handle alot more abuse.
