DRZ250 Erratic Idle

I'm new to the 4 stroke thing and just bought my daughter a used '01 DRZ 250. It's a great bike. At first it ran great, but now I'm having problems with the idle speed. It runs great off idle, but when it returns to idle the speed isn't consistent and occasionally it will cough and die. This carb is not something I have any experience with. Any ideas? Thanks.

Then tend to jet the pilot circuits VERY lean. Richening the idle with the fuel screw, or a pilot jet change makes them much happier in low speed running.
