Anyone know the laws on getting a license plate for a dualsport conversion in california. Is there a year when u can no longer add a baja kit to a bike to make it street legal? I saw a street legal 2003 crf450 with a baja kit and texas license plate and the guy said the title can transfer to cali. Any thoughts? Also anybody have comments on the ktm smc625.

The cut-off date for bikes with a 'C' or '3' in the eighth digit of the vin number is '02. Some of the new CRFX and KTM models can be dualsported. Check with your local DMV and do a search on the DMV web site for CHP directive 888. This directive explains what is required to make your bike street legal and what years are eligible.

Be careful buying one out of state or importing one. If it has the wrong vin number they won't let you register it at all. Not even a red sticker.
