Yesterday I picked up my '02 400 MXC from Alan Randt at Enduro Engineering. Alan had put the EE450 kit in my bike as well as the Mike Lafferty Big Gun exhaust system. Funny when I got the bike home I also received the new Dirt Rider with the EE 450 kitted Mike Lafferty bike in it that was used in their 24 hour test. My first impression is that the bike is everything they said it would be and possibly more. It was about 30 degrees out when I started it, starting was the same as when it was a 400, very easy. The bike however, although just slightly louder had a very different tone. I rode the bike only briefly due to the weather and the time of day but can say that the new power is AWESOME. The power band builds like it did when it was a 400, just builds quicker and there is much, much more of it all through the powerband. During my very brief ride the front wheel could easily be lofted in the first four gears and it got there very quickly. Can't wait to get it in the woods this weekend. Will post a longer more complete report after my ride!!!!!!!!

How much $ was the 450 kit and exhaust? I think I will just order an 03 450EXC but the 450 kit w/exhaust has me interested. How much louder is the BG exhaust. BG isnt really known for quiet exhausts in the past.

The cost of the kit and the exhaust was about $925 US, that included labor, the guys at EE had it ready to go when I picked it up. The exhaust note is deeper, a little louder than stock but not much. Off to ride!

Cool, out of all the bikes in the Dirt Rider test the Lafferty 450 impressed me the most. My next bike may just be a 400 or 450 KTM depending on what they do motor wise for '03(or 250 if they get it out ;) ). Any idea on what the stock pipe has for decibels vs. the Big Gun pipe?

no idea on the db difference, the bike w/the BG is still quieter than a WR 426 or the CRF450 that I sometimes ride with.

Is the BB kit made by EE or KTM? I know there are several companies making 450 kits for the 400s. I was told KTM just announced their own BB kit for the 400 also. What do you get with the BB kit? Do you have to exchange your old parts? Thanks!

The bike started like it did before, very easy to start. After that, completely different. Lofting the front over objects required no thought, just a blip of the throttle. The power builds much quicker than before making open fields an absolute gas to ride. In the tight stuff the bike can easily be lugged, never stalled, even when the bike is a gear or two lower than it should be the engine simply pulls. Factory Connection worked wonders with the suspension over the winter as well, the bike handled everything thrown at it with ease. The 400 E/MXC/SX are all great bikes, an EE450 kitted 400 is an amazing bike!

Hemet, CA.
I was already sold, this just pushed me over the top.
Wonder how hard it would be to install yourself?
