I hate to admit it...but I am already dreading the upcoming winter and resulting PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrome) - so have started thinkg about some technique videos to help me through the rough winter months.:(

I recently saw a video advertised on line that had Lafferty in it, a number of other big names in enduros - two videos - basic and advanced - it looked quite interesting. Problem is - for the life of me i cant recall where I saw it! I have looked everywhere I can think of where I might have been surfing around to - and cant find it anywhere! Does anyone know of this video - or was I imagining it? If not this one - any others that you would recommend. I did do a search and found a couple mentioned that i will follow up on - any others? One mentioned was with Burleson - but I cant find a source (online) for it.

Magoo - yep - I am addicted - no doubt about it! I ended up doing 5 races (6 if you count the Mini Moose?) this year - hope to do more next - and next year I will actually finish the Moose! Upland was as tough as the Moose in some ways - totally different challenge than the Moose - major Mud vs all the Moon Rocks and ultra tight stuff. A blown radiator hose did me in on that race though.

Fatherandson - you hit the nail on the head! Its on woodsracers home page! (i did not think to look there) Thanks! Is anyone familiar with those specific videos?

Mike,

I do have the summary of the 2000 series video, but not the How to's.
I enjoyed this video and I am hoping they do the same with 2001 (since the results were the same = Lafferty/KTM winning!!!):p

Fatherandson- no snow currently, just lots of deer hunters in the woods for the next two weeks!
Had about 4 to 6 inches of wet snow about two weeks ago, had a blast riding our enduro trails with the additional challenge! It all melted a couple of days later...

Did you check motovideo.com? They've got a great selection of video, with a lot of the hard to find stuff.

thanks for the tip - I just checked it out. They have one of the two. They also have lots of other interesting videos as well. FYI- Since woodsracer updated their web site it no longer refers to the videos I was looking for - but I did find them at http://www.dv-factory.com/

no problem - one is "How to Win an Enduro" the other is "How to Win an Enduro 2" Descriptions of each below (copied from the dv factory wed site).

How to Win an Enduro :
How to Win an Enduro is a fast paced how to video hosted by National Enduro Champion Mike Lafferty and his crew chief Alan Randt. Mike and Alan show you the ins an outs of Enduro racing. Who Knows, the winner of the next Enduro could be you.

How to Win an Enduro 2:

This video has tips and tricks from top pros which include: Randy Hawkins and his mechanic Dale, Mike Lafferty, David Lykke, Pat and Brian Garrahan, Matt Stavish, Nathan Knight and Nolan Knight. Plus, an entire segment on pre-race bike preparation. It doesn't get any better than this! Please call us to place an order. (719) 573-2100

The first tape How to win a Enduro, seamed to be more directed at selling
aftermarket parts and KTM sportsmotorcycles. My years of riding Enduros
may have made me blind to somthing here but i dont see much advice in
the first tape, havnt seen the second one.

Dick Burleson offers a two part video series on how to ride in the woods. Its available from Thumper Racing. he demonstrates all the nasics, while riding an XR250. He is seen going at pretty good clip on what is in essence a stock 94 era XR

Mike,
Great Question! I have been looking for my own winter videos. I have found a good offroad selection on cyclenews.com. Titles include..... "Time To Ride", "Ride Like The Wind", National Enduro Series. I haven't ordered any yet, but I did see segments of Time to Ride on High Octane yesterday, it seemed to be a good look at some of the top guys like Ty Davis, Randy Hawkins, etc. having fun off road, not really a "how to", but seeing these guys go through some nasty stuff at full speed is quite educational in itself!
I'm looking everybody's suggestions, as this seems like a very untapped reference!
Happy viewing,
Barkbuster

I've been pointing all the options out to the wife... hoping she gets the hint... if not, guess i will just have to buy for myself.

Duke - does thumper racing have a web site? Dick Burleson is sorta a "local" (lives about 80 miles from here...would be great to see him in action!)

Barkbuster - will take a look at cyclenews.com! thanks.

Ironically - we still dont have snow here yet. Last year had tons by now. I may have to go for a Christmas Day ride if this trend keeps up a couple more weeks! (oh oh... watch out now... i see the big storm coming now that i said that!)

The Thumperracing.com web site seems to be down, but their number is listed in all the magazines and cyclenews.....and yes the video is current as it was filmed about 1994 or so. Burleson goes into the details of sag, preload and other basic suspension adjustemtns and what they mean. He demonstrates the riding techniques in both fast and slow motion. Nothing really unique stuff, just hard, core basics that many riders over look. Its all based for off road, with nothing devoted to MX

Mike, I know this is a real old thread but wondering if you've ordered any of the videos & what you thought of them?
Just finished watching Time to Ride II & loved the segments of Lafferty & G-Brothers (hence my search to see what info I could find out about the brothers - my husband had never heard of them till tonight lol - I was convinced they'd competed in the ISDE's & wasn't sure what else, so had to find out more info).

I ended up buying the How To 1 and 2 - and really did not find them all that helpful from a technique stand point or timekeeping etc (and thats not because i already know it....fatherandson can attest to that ).

I am not familiar with the "gbrothers" videos others mentioned - perhaps i should chech them out to./

I also ended up buying the 01 Enduro series video and some of the "raw footage" from one event i participated in (i hesitate to say "raced" based on my results :uh: ). I loved both of those from an entertainment standpoint - in particular the helmet cam stuff, and I even caught a glimpse of myself in some of the raw footage. I intended to order the 2002 video but last time i checked their web site http://www.dv-factory.com/ (a few weeks ago now) - all i get is a goofy login page as if the page is not yet set up for use - no response to emails i sent to brian either. Anyone know what the deal is with them?
