If the engine has seized on my Yamaha 125, is the only option a rebuild?

Yes. You'll have buy a new piston kit, and gasket kit. So thus pretty much like doing a new top-end. But the rest depends on the amount of damage done to the cylinder walls. If it's minorly scratched and not through the nikasil lining, then you may be able to just hone the cylinder. Otherwise, if the cylinder is gouged, you will have to send it away and have it replated. You'll never know until you take it all apart. Then your gonna want to know what caused the problem in the first place, to make sure it doesn't happen again. Did you run it in the cold weather and didn't re-jet it first? Did you mix your gas too lean? Do your engine gaskets have an air leak? And so forth...

what year model is your 125? sometimes my 89 floods bad for no reason, and its hard to crank some days,, you did turn your fuel peacock back on didnt you? also, clean your air filter,,,,, to get a bike to run you need four things,, compression, fuel, air, and fire.
