Why would you want to go to a 420 chain? :yikes:

All you'll do with that setup is cause a chain to snap and rip through your engine case.

Especially with a 400 two stroke engine :yikes:

so you are saying that I need to keep a 525 chain?? that is not common and I need to get into something common because I am thinking I am going 2 have to have a custom sprocket made... could i go 520??

Did you look at the link I posted? They sell all the different sprockets for that bike...no need to look any further , much less consider having one made.

yes, I looked at it.. at the smallest they make is a 12 tooth.. would REALLY like to find an 11 tooth and that would put me in the ballpark.. do you know if there are any #525 chain 11 tooth sprockets that will fit on a ts 400??

Go with a minimum of a 520 chain. As to which sprocket fits, call the different companies and ask them. I'm sure they'll help you out.

Why in the world would you want to drop down to a 11 tooth front sprocket?

Have you ever experimented to see how much of a difference dropping a tooth or two on the front makes? With a 12 tooth front, you'll never use 1st or 2nd gear and will probably have a top speed between 40 and 50.
