erratically running motor

i got a kx 250 today and when you start it up it idles just fine but when i start putting around it starts to rev out to like 3/8ths throttle and after a while it will calm back down.

whats going on?

i took the reeds out today on one side all for are lightly chipped and on the other only one is.

the carb is clean i took it apart and cleaned it out, wasnt any thing in there.

Well, they went through your engine. Carbon fiber reeds can do some real damage. I would imagine the fiberglass can hurt also. Some of this material can stop the rings from being free, head, piston and bearings can be damaged. Check your plug, compression and pull the pipe and have a look at the piston.
