Evolution Of The Newest "riding Style"

In reading one of the monthly rags, I cant recall which one, maybe MXA, they commented on how a particular bar style that caters to the old school "Jeff Emig standup riding style" has fallen out of vogue. The current trend is a bar that accomodates the RC approach which emphisizes more of a balanced approach I guess featuring a more seated position. Have I missed something or over looked some new found approach to going faster? I am not about to change myself, but I am intrigued, having recalled in the early eighties the highly touted American/Gary Bailey school of thinking that generally advocated a more stand up style. Took me forever to finally comes to terms with that.
