Well, I finally made it out to the local dealerships.. First I went to the <gasp> Honda dealership and they had absolutely nothing.. Then I went to my local Yamaha dealership and they had a few left overs which included, a 2002 WR250F, and a 2002 YZF426F and no thats not a typo, they were 2002s.. Both said $5300 or best offer (it also said save for the holidays.. ).. Retail on the Kelly blue book for the WR250F is $4130 while the retail for the YZF 426 is $4230..

I had an XR100 about 6years ago, so Im thinking the 426 is a little too fast for me even though Im 6'1 200lbs.. I dunno but $5300 for a 2002 WR250F seems a little high considering some kawi dealerships are letting their 03 KX125s go for around $3200 + taxes and KX250s for $3995..

Im going to check out a few more dealerships and see if i can pick up a good deal on a left over but what do you all think would be a fair offer on that 02 WR250F?

Thanks..

John

Way too much for an 02'. Look on eBay for some deals on lightly used bikes, you'll do alot better than what these NY dealers will give you.

Thanks guys, those comments are a huge help for me.. That $4500 OTD was about what I had in mind since KBB says its worth retail around $4100.. Im going to look around and see if I can find any other 4stroke leftovers (Id love to get a 4stroke bike.. )..

As new as that bike is, as soon as you buy it, and roll it off the showroom floor it becomes a Used 2 year old bike, and will be worth the same as all the other used 2 year old bikes... I had a dealer try and pawn one off on me, ended up buying a brand new one at a dealer an hour away for $50 more than the other dealer's "special " price on thier leftover 2 year old bike.

Thanks Zerotact... Thats what I was thinking which is why I checked out KBB.. KBB says the bike is worth $4150 retail so I figured the highest I would go was $4500 out the door... If he doesn't accept Im going to order a 125 off of generationmx (the online whoesaler).. I really like the 250WR but if the guy doesn't want to deal no problem, there is no way Id give him anything over that for the exact reason you stated.. what do you think about that offer? if I give him 4500 out the door, the bike will come to about 4200 before all the taxes..

$4500 otd doesnt sound like to good of a deal to me, like i said, i paid that for mine a year ago, look around some more, you are bound to find a better deal, heck you could get an 03 kx250 for $3999, if it was an 03, then i would say that was a good deal, but an 02, i just dont think that is that good of an deal. i think you should look around some more, you should be able to find something better for the same money. and if your looking into getting an 125, mabey you should look at the 03 kx250, its a lot more bike, and better suited for trails then the 125. But have fun with what ever you get, cause that is what matters in the end.
