Someone tried to steal my Chevy Silverado last night. I usually park the Yukon in the garage and leave the older Silverado (used for bike transport to races and rides) out in the driveway. Its not like its worth a whole bunch ('89) but its MINE and I would miss having it around to haul my bike. The thieves tried to steal my neighbors newer Silverado too, and actually succeeded in getting into the cab and messed up the steering column but neither truck was stolen.

My drivers side door lock is jacked up, so now I have to enter from the passenger side. I had all kinds of other stuff in there that I would have missed: My KTM jacket, my KTM manual, some private letters, some receipts with my Credit Card number, my garage door opener, ug!! :ugg: I was so stupid to leave these things, especially the garage door opener, in there, they could have really done a lot of damage to my house, my belongings, misused my credit card. I had a drawing from my nephew in there that I keep on the dash, I would have missed that too.

Well, everyone go out and check to make sure that your trucks are locked up, your garage door is locked up and that anything of value or containing personal information is kept in the house and not in your vehicle!!! I'm getting those lights that flick on when they sense movement and I'm going to let Sparky (my harmless but loud dog) sleep in the garage so that he can alert me when he hears footsteps just outside.

Thieves are low-life scum!!! :moon:

if they've been there twice, then you may luck out and they may come back a third time...

Then I'd say it's game on

My diesel Ford was stolen about a year and a half ago. They got everything...credit card #'s, personal and company checks, tore up my truck for $400 in tools and then left it ditched about 8 blocks away. The turds sold the checks to a meth hore who proceeded to buy pizza and gas all over town. Literally took about 6 months to get all of the details squared away (changing accounts, police reports, bad check collection agencies calling me over the closed accounts...what a friggin mess it was).

Oh No Natty! I hope they didn't steal our love letters I left in there. J/K Those low lifes, I hate people like that. :flame: You want me to send you a guard alligator, that will keep them away. Now you have to live with the damage or spend your hard earned money to fix it. :|

Sorry to hear about the break-in. I had a situation about 4 months ago that was similar. My girlfriends car was "broken" into in my driveway and about $50 in change was stolen. Afterwards, I checked my 4Runner that I hadn't driven in a few weeks, and sure enough someone had gone through it on another occasion. Nothing was taken even though there was a bunch of change, cds, expensive sunglasses, etc... I am worried that the perpetrator was looking for spare house keys or a garage door opener. Unfortunately the doors of the vehicles were unlocked at the time. I didn't think I had to worry too much b/c I live in a great neighborhood, but I guess I was really wrong! Now I'm concerned about my boat which has about $4k in stereo equipment and cannot be locked. Motion detectors seem to be the way to go, but the theives were brazen enough to break into my girl's car while we were awake with the lights on. If I ever get my hands on that guy, well, you know...

That sucks, Natalie! I know it won't make you feel better, but I used to see it every day. People would leave purses, briefcaes, laptops, etc, in plain view, and were always so hurt when the stuff got stolen. Don't leave anything in your car - ever. There are crackheads everywhere.

Your case sounds like it was more than a crackhead looking for stuff to sell. Somebody was looking for a ride.

Sorry to hear that Nat. I had some good news in the vehicle department. I parked my truck at the heliport and left for two weeks. I come back and there was tape and plastic all over the driver side door. Apparently I left the window down at 5 am when I got out. The people at the heliport taped it up for me. The amazing part to me was that there wasn't a single thing damaged or missing. With as many people coming in and out of there I was really surprised.

Sounds like we both were lucky. :)

Damnit Natty.... damn the theives!! Glad it sounds like you made out "well", considering everything that could have been at risk. Theives make my stomach hurt and my blood boil!

My new S-10 was 4 days old when someone decided to smash the window while Red and I were at the movies. Funny thing is the police station is maybe 70-100 yards from where the truck was parked. They took 100-120 cds, radar detector, cell phone, but luckily they didn't stumble across the spare key in the ashtray. Insurance didn't cover it as only the window would have been covered (deductible was $500) but none of the personal property. Bastages even made a few cell calls, and I had their voices in a voice mail on my phone (if you pushed a button without the keys locked it went to voice mail), but the police didn't give a damn.

Then last year right before DW, we found our enclosed trailer door wide open and damn near everything gone. Thank God the bikes were in the new toy hauler and not the trailer. I didn't mind as much about the replaceable stuff like tires and helmets and handlebars, but stuff like DV's autographed jersey and Ferry and Jesseman's pants really made me sad. If I ever saw someone around town with that DV jersey, I would wanna kill em.

Also sucks because it makes trusting people live in sudden fear. I could barely sleep after the trailer incident, scared they would come back again. I'm still scared. :|

Glad they didn't get away with your truck Nat! My beautiful white 86GMC 4x4 pickup was stolen out of my driveway when I lived in Chandler, AZ. That truck was babied, washed every weekend, polished every month and had all the cool stuff on it - my dad liked to give me truck accessories as my gifts (drove my mom nuts cause she wanted to get me girl stuff but dad knew I wanted truck stuff, now it's bike stuff).

It had sat dead in the driveway because I was on a big project & drove the company truck for months. I finally decided I wanted to drive it so, put a new battery in him, filled up both tanks and tooled around town. Parked him in the driveway and the next morning went to head to work and he was GONE!!!! I had even yelled at the poor Hound Dog that night when he was barking, trying to tell me there was a problem. He loved that truck too. :whiner:

It never was found, two tanks of gas would get it to Mexico pretty easy.

Things like that make me quite happy to live on the mountain where people don't drive up our driveway unless they really really need to. UPS won't even deliver to our house!

Don't EVER keep your garage door opener in your vehicle outside of your house!!! A friend of mine in Phoenix had 2 bikes stolen a few months ago when thieves broke into the car outside of the garage & used the opener to open the door. She got her bikes back but only because the theif lost them on the road a few blocks away. What a nightmare!

Sorry to hear that schmucks attempted to help themselves to your truck. It sounds to me like they might have a particular vehicle in mind... something large. I'm digging the Attack Gator idea. I have a friend with a relative who owns a gator farm near Lake Charles, LA... want I should make a phone call?? :p

Sorry too hear this Natalie..
My senior year in high school, my 65 Impala SS was stolen out of my driveway w/the alarm going off, then another time my neighbor caught a thief in my Camaro going through my stuff, the guy got jail.. Then a few years ago in Lake Havasu, we rented a house, came out in the morning and found that my truck and freinds Suburban got broken into.. I was impressed w/the cops out there, they fingerprinted my truck and got prints.. Then a few months later, i got a call, they caught the POS's.. Turns out this cop had pulled over these kids, thinking they had beer or dope on them, the cop searched the car and found a MagLite w/my name inscribed, luckily the officer had remembered my name, took the kids in, got a warrant for there houses and found all kinds of stereo stuff.. They had broken into about 30 cars over time.. They paid me restitution, i got back about 100 of 115 cd's :thumb: Sad thing was, the insurance company could care less that they were caught, and wouldn't go after them :| Oh, and one of the kids, it was his third strike :thumb:

Can i get a Alligator and a baby rattler

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Nat. I had a Honda Civic and a shiny new Camaro broken into about 8 years ago. They got the usual...CD's, radar detector, etc. I was stupid and actually left my wallet in my Civic when it was broken into. It's funny, the thing that bothered me the most was that some dirtbags had pictures of my girlfriend (now my wife) and memebers of my family. At least you've still got your truck!

Natty that sucks! My son had his boomer radio ripped off. The car was parked in my yard. Time for some claymores! Well at least some of those motion sensor lights.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Lat night I spent over two hours cleaning out the garage and making room for both vehicles. Its pretty tight in there now, so I'm not sure if that is going to work long-term. What I need is a three-car garage!!

Anyone ever have a vehicle stolen with that steering wheel bar thingy in place? My neighbor went out and bought one and I'm thinking of it myself. I would hate to lose that Silverado, I'm emotionally attached to it, lol.

Philip, those letters must a got lost in the mail!
