Used to ride 80's when I was younger (I'm now 32), and I had a KLX300 a few years back. I have a couple quads now, and I'm looking to find a pre-2003 2 stroke (has to be pre-2003 cuz of the green sticker issue here in California). Anyway, my question is more along the lines of the proper weight/height for my next bike. I'm 6' and weigh 165, and I just wanted to make sure a 125 would be okay. I don't really have the desire to get a 250 unless a 125 just won't hold my weight. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

I way in the neighborhood of 160. You will be fine on a 125 at that weight. I have a 2002 KX 125 and it's been great. Have fun! :aj:

You'll need at least a CR500 - oh, wait, that was 165 not 265 - OK, carry on lightweights.

You may get bored of a 125 two stroker but it depends on your riding area. If you ride trails and hill climbs, you'll have to keep the 125 up on the pipe for it to run good then have to deal with the speed issue. I guess it comes down to where to plan on riding it. The track would be fine if it's a smaller style track but if you plan on going to an outdoors style one, you'll be under power. You'll actually work less on a 250 and not have to use the full power and it'll be easier to stay at lower speeds with some good power. An fmf pipe would help with lower end torque or you can stay with a stock pipe on the 250, they make good low end power. Good luck

Thanks for the great advice. I'm really leaning towards a YZ250F now based on the type of riding areas I'll visit. Found a great looking year 2002 bike near my home town for $3400. Might just go for it! Thanks again.

If possible, try and find a WR version instead, you'll like it alot more if you ride off track mostly. You can add the YZ tank and seat and it'll feel perfect and have the low end and slow power with the WR behind it. Have fun
