I am 15, 6', and 160 lbs. I am getting my first bike for trail use. I was considering the Yamaha TTR 225 but I have heard many negative things and have decided to look elsewhere. My price range is only $3000. The only other new bikes i could afford that I have found are the TTR 125L the DRZ 125 L or the KLX 125L. All of those seem a little small and i have been looking for something bigger. My local dealer has 4 used bikes that stood out. a 2001 XR200r, a 1998 CR 125, a 1995 Suzuki KMX250, or a Kawasaki 250 (sorry i forgot the year and make). Do any of these stand out as good first bikes for a pretty big guy? Could anyone tell me if I should go new or used? Four or two stroke? Thanks. - Ben

The kmx250, is a good bike to ride, really tame, untill you replace the muffler and pipe, then she flies! What riding do you intend to do?

Look no further than a Kawasaki KDX 200.

At 6 foot, you are going to be cramped on a little 125cc 4-stroke offroad bike.

For 3,000$, I don't think you should have any problem finding an excellent condition one year old (two at the very MAX) used KDX 200.

Don't think your going to get much better advice than the above :thumb:

Another bike to consider might be a Honda XR250.

I'm not sure what a KMX is? Are we talking about an RMX perhaps?

i have decided to go with none of my original options and get a suzuki dr 200 on/off road. i figured since i live in the city i might as well cuz when i get my license in a year i can ride out to all the best trails occasionally (30 miles away), since my folks didnt want to drive that far very often just so i could ride. otherwise i can just use it as economical transport in a year( not to sure about riding out to trails just because of the tire issue. but thanks for all the advice
