Du Quoin Mile rained out; Kopp, McCoy crowned

AMA Pro Racing has announced the Du Quoin Mile round of the AMA Progressive Insurance U.S. Flat Track Championships has been canceled due to rain. The final race of the 2000 season had been rescheduled to run today after rain halted action over the weekend. Weather and track conditions, however, remained unfavorable, and the race was canceled early this afternoon. The decision to call the race was made jointly between race promoter Illinois Motorcycle Dealers Association (IMDA) and AMA Pro Racing.

Champions in the three premier racing classes were crowned based on the points going into Du Quoin:

Grand National: Joe Kopp, Mica, Wash., 214 pts.
SuperTrapp SuperTracker: Joe Kopp, Mica, Wash., 103 pts.
Harley-Davidson Sportster Performance: Willie McCoy, Richardson, Texas, 99 pts.

Hey, that's my cousin Joe!!! It was a disappointing ending for the season though, he really wanted to take the last race of the season.

Been a fan of his for quite awhile.
We sat next to his Uncle I think

in the stands during the 97 National in Rapid City.
I just severed my ACL the day before and was zoned out.
It is great to see him win the title, especially since he kept it from Carr & Sacramento HD.
