I bought a Motion Pro throttle cable (MP03-253) that is a direct replacement for the 95-01 KDX throttle cable (
54012-1485). It is about 1/2 the price of the stock cable: $16 something vs. $28 something. It's a nice cable that is the same length and has the same fittings as the OEM cable, but with one little flaw: The rubber boot that is at the carb end of the cable has an opening that's too big. I'm talking about the opening in the boot that fits against the top of the carb. The stock boot has a 8mm dia hole (~.3 in) with a lip that locks over the fitting on the top of the carb. Essentially for keeping water, dirt, etc out. The boot on the MP cable has a much larger 13mm dia hole at the end that's too big to seal anything. The good news is that with a little work, you can reuse the stock boot but it's a bit of a PITA to work it over the end of the cable. You'll have to decide whether that's worth the savings, but I expected better of Motion Pro.
