Thats right Illinois riders. Rep. Flowers did it again under the "education" of off road riding submitted a bill that would BAN all riders under the age of 16 from riding an off highway vehicle (Atv or motorcycle)

we will fire up all the collective information things needed soon as we know more, but this bill was submitted by her Friday 1-22-2010.

I changed the links to the updated version. I think I have the correct one now. Your original link was broken so I just searched the site:

This sure sounds like its all asphalt related to me. And I sure thought it was already illegal to operate said vehicles on the road in the first place? The AMA should be getting email links to who it concerns? Stupid frigging waste of breath, time and money=politicians! Sorry, Vintage Bob

Read it again. Here is the language directly from the bill rather than the synopsis.

(4) No person shall ride an all-terrain vehicle or
18 off-highway motorcycle as a passenger. The Secretary of
19 State may suspend the operator's driver's license for
20 violation of this paragraph.
21 (5) No person under the age of 16 shall operate an
22 all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle.
23 (6) No person shall operate an all-terrain vehicle or
24 off-highway motorcycle without a valid driver's license.

25 (7) No person shall operate an all-terrain vehicle or
26 off-highway motorcycle without a properly fitted helmet

Why is she just after atv's and motorcycles? Why not include kids on sleds and gokarts or anything else that is motorized? She must have had a poor/bad childhood. She needs to get on a bike or atv and see what she is missing.

Chicago elects these nut jobs.

When she was trying to push her first bill though, I had to look her district up, out of curiosity.

This bill was voted down by an overwhelming majority the first time, and I'll do whatever I can to help it be denied once again.

 I don't get it?

It would be awesome if some of the good people of America could get into office. Unfortunately it seems you have to be a complete putts to qualify to run in most areas........and until you can get the majority of the idiots out of there it will continue to be a cluster.

Chicago politics got her in, not voting. Single mom with a teenage daughter. Not only is she in politics, she bred! Seemed to me this was the story, she knew someones kid got hurt on a quad? Why? There should be a law? Can't drive a car till you are 16, (should be 25) (and turn it in when you retire!), so what the heck? It all started with the seat belts. Hunger, poverty and natural disasters is not enough. Priorities. Not politics. Vintage Bob

now is the time to call, write, and fax your rep, and the rep on the committee for this bill!

go to www.amadistrict17.com for the updated information. calls are good, faxes and e mails ok, letters mailed are really good. take 15-20 minutes and make 5-10 phone calls takes little time but is needed again this year and let them know (nicely) what your opinion is.

Thanks Gerhard! This means the bill is coming out of the rules committee and up for vote soon? They may catch US sleeping on this crap 1 time, and that will be it. They have passed many bills this way, hide it at the bottom of some bigger issues bill. Politics 101 is not fun, or very interesting, but they like it. Vintage Bob
