FMF Continues Leadership Role in OHV Exhaust Sound Education

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, CA (Oct. 18) – The world's leading aftermarket performance motorcycle exhaust manufacturer is announcing its commitment to the sport through rider education and new product development. For the fourth consecutive year, FMF Racing has teamed up with the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) to help educate off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts about the need to utilize quiet mufflers on public and private lands.

2007 will mark yet another step in progression towards the future as FMF will be unveiling it’s new 4-stroke Q4 exhaust systems and can be seen on www.fmfracing.com or in upcoming advertising campaigns. The new Q4 series has all the key benefits, noise well below 96dBA, sleek design, and lightweight feel,” stated Donny Emler Jr., FMF’s marketing director. FMF is also the official sound check for the WORCS Off-road series.

FMF’s Q systems were first developed in anticipation of the 96dB sound limit that became law in California in January 2003. The Q technology had been refined into the lighter Q2 and the ultimate off-road performance muffler, the Titanium Q.

Don Emler, FMF Racing's founder and president, explains “I am proud that FMF pioneered the effort to offer performance while at the same time reducing excessively loud OHV exhaust noise.”
"FMF is also proud of our 4 year partnership with the Coalition and of our five-thousand dollar support grant to the BRC’s sound testing program for OHVs. Riding properly muffled bikes will help keep both private and public areas open for motorized recreational use." Emler said.

Don Amador, the western representative for the BlueRibbon Coalition, said, "I believe FMF continues to show its commitment to the OHV community via its leadership through this program. It has made a positive difference already and will continue to help keep riding areas open for generations to come.”

quieter is good, but at 500$ for just the muffler it will take a catastrophic failure of my stock muffler before I open my wallet.

Kudos to FMF!

My only bike that is not stock has an FMF Q on it. I hear ( :) ) that the Q2 is a quieter muffler.

My KTM's are stock.

I am writing the sound regs for the new TMTC park near Ozona and if you are not below 96 dB you will not be able to ride if you have a non stock exhaust system. If your system is stock and above 96 dB, you will be issued a warning and be told to repack your muffler.

I have to admit ... I ran my WR250F with the stock silencer incorked for a while, and it was LOUD. I actually got headaches from the noise. I bought a used FMF Q from a fellow DRN'er and am not only happy with the reduced noise, the performance of the bike improved as well.

Shhhhhh! Keep it quiet. Noise only attracts attention ... kinda like a loud Hardlystaysarunnin' everyone looks, yet NONE with brains are impressed.
