I'm considering trading up a few year models to a 2000 E350 15 passenger van equipped with the V10 engine. I've heard the power is quite good, but how about the gas mileage?

For comparison, I'm currently running a 93 E350 w/ a 351.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Umm, don't bank on getting decent gas mileage.
In reference, as 2000 f250 crewcab with the v-10, towing a 20ft boat through sothern Missouri got about 8mpg.
I think gas mileage would almost be liveable, so long as you never had a load, and always was light on the gas.... But the v-10 makes plenty of power.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I was thinking the mileage wouldn't be good. Funny how previous owners seem to change the conversation when the question comes up. My 351 is getting 12-15 depending on the day, so I'll sit tight for now unless a good deal on a 5.4 should come around.

Thanks again!

Joe,
The V10's also like to spit out spark plugs!!! and that can be very $$$$ we were stuck in Kansas City on our way to Chadwick at the time.
The Ford tech said it is very common with the V-10's!

If you want mileage wait around for a deal on a van with the diesel. Great power & mileage plus it should easily last for 300K with some reasonable maintenance practices.
