hi I was wondering if anyone knew what the name of the blue coating that is on the fork legs and shock rod on the monsters energy kawasakis that villipoto and his team mates ride? Iwas sent an e mail from pc that had the name of it but it got deleted.
Those coatings that you are seeing is whats called Ti-Nitrade or Ti-Ni. The different colors are a result of using different componenants so to speak. The other form that is becoming more and more popular is DLC or Diamond Like Coating. This is what Team Kawasaki uses and what comes stock on the KXF450. DLC is fairly new, but is what everyone is moving to. DLC is Harder than Ti-Ni and Slicker which results in a more fluid stroke and minimal stiction. I have heard that it lasts longer as well. However, do not get the idea that Ti-Ni is going to wear off. Ti-Ni and DLC will both look like new long after the bike they originally were installed on is in the junk yard in pieces as well as the second bike they were installed on is in the junk yard or long gone. Either one is an awsome performance enhancement if you can spare the money. Necessary??? Obsolutley not!!! 90% of riders could not tell the difference vs. they're stock stuff except for maybe a lil bit smoother action. Advantages are extended seal, bushing, and oil life. As well as a harder surface that is less likely to knick or scratch and of course less stiction equally smoother fork action.
