On Saturday, September 6th there will be a Reunion for all former racer's and friends of Freddy Vans Cycle Land in Pittsburg, Kansas. Freddy Vans Cycle Land, or “Freddy Vans" was located at Pittsburg, Kansas on the Kansas Missouri line, and was operated by numerous promoters over 30 years before being sold for development in the mid 90’s.
The reunion will be held at Lincoln Center, 710 West 9th St. near the ballpark at 12th and 69 Bypass in Pittsburg, Kansas, from 1 PM until 4 PM. There will be vintage bikes and MX memorabilia. Former racers and friends are encouraged to bring any memorabilia from Freddy Vans, vintage items, vintage bikes, t-shirt’s, picture’s and race flyers to display and share with others. Or just show up to see old friends and bench race about Freddy Vans back in the day.

Check out the link for picture of Freddy Vans from the 80's.

If you rode or raced at Freddy Vans, come on out, it will be a good time. The grand stand jump, ski jump, double sisters in the back section, big bowel turn, old fashion falling forward starting gate, blue groove in the dead of summer... All great memories!

The Freddy Vans Cycle Land Reunion was this past Saturday and by all accounts was a huge success. There were about 200 people in attendance with 40-50 having raced at Freddy Vans over the years. The 70’s contingent was strong in numbers, with the 80’s contingent being smaller, but represented well none the less. There were a number of vintage bikes on display and many in attendance brought pictures, articles and race results to jog old memories. The owner that started the track in 1972 was also in attendance and looked moved by the number of middle aged guy’s bench racing about Freddy Vans back in the day. It was good to see guys I’ve not spoke with in years and to meet some of the fast guys from the 70’s. The best quote about the reunion came from Smokin’ Joe Burke - “I was so over whelmed with the friends and racers that I haven’t seen in years! This whole thing makes you realize how good of a life we have had riding DIRT BIKES!”

The local paper had a reporter at the reunion and ran a front page article in the Sunday paper. See the link below.
