Hello.
I was wondering where I could find a
front chain guard for a 97 yz250 online?
the sprocket cut up my angle pretty good the other day. lol

Did this bike come with a plastic guard? My friends 88 yz125 comes
with a plastic one.

The dealer probably has them on order (or not), but probably
for like $200 (exaggerating).
thanks

I believe the part you are looking for can be purchased for about $16. The bolts that go with it can be purchased for about $1 each from the dealer, a bit more expensive than a generic bolt but then you know it will fit.

There are a number of online places where you can order these parts. Do a search with "Yamaha OEM parts". You should find a number of places that provide a link to Yamaha's "exploded parts" viewer. This will give you a diagram of every part that makes up your bike and then interfaces with the specific website's online ordering.

I buy parts from this time fairly regularly:

First off, invest in some boots so you dont have to worry about hurting your angle.
