I have a 2000 kx125 and was wondering if anyone has put a petcock with a reserve switch... I'm always worried I'm gonna run out of gas during longer open desert rides even though a full tank seems to last allot longer than I do...

MSR (Tucker Rocky) has two: one for what they call a desert (-sized) tank, and another for one of lesser capacity (MX); I have the latter and both come with a reserve position. The difference between the two is in the length of the standing tube.

It is iffy whether it would fit your KX as the bolt patter may be different, and the catalog doesn't distinguish which models they are to be use on, so you are on your own with regards to fitment.

Cost is nominal.

Most modern mx bikes share petcocks. I used a reserve petcock from my kdx on my 98 yamaha with no problem. My 92 wr 500 came with a reserve petcock, which I modified (cut the length of the tube down) to go to reserve at 1\2 gallon, instead of at 1 gallon reserve. As long as the bolts line up, you should be fine.
