Hey I've seen pictures of the new gas gas 250 four strokes and it looks pretty good. Does anybody have any inf on them? I also heard that the KTM 250 four stroke is not coming out for a while now, whats with that? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

ktm and gas-gas 250 4t

Hi from Greece!

I have seen some photos of the Gas-Gas i believe it will see production as a 2002 model, it features a twin cam WR-F like motor,a Gianneli exhaust system and the whole consept is identicall to the WR 250 F.
As for the Ktm it might hit the showrooms as a 2002 model being very similar to the 400 and 520 EXC series with great revving cappabilities (not like a YZ250F nor a WR 250F though).
You might be interested in the TM 250 4T that will be released as a 2002 model along with the 400 TM 4T.
As it seems all kind of 4T racers are going into production if you are interested in one maybe its wise to wait and see what comes next.:)

Latest info I have seen is that the GG will very likely be fuel injected (like the C'dale) and that it "may" be a late 2002 bike. Have not really seen much on the KTM 250 4 stroke but hope the realize that sleeving down a 520/400 isn't going to cut the mustard with bikes like the YZ/WR-F, GasGas and TM around.

Last I heard on the KTM 250 RFS is that it had been delayed so they could work on making its own motor for it, instead of using a sleaved down 400. If KTM wants to be succesful with the bike I think that is something they'll have to do. I thought one of the Euro links that somewhat put up had it listed as a 2002 model, but who knows except for KTM.

The site has some info on the KTM 250 RFS

Also don't forget about the new Husky E-start 250 4-stroke, which will probably be the first Euro to market. The 2001 2-strokes are beautiful, well made bikes.

Spoke to my local GG dealer, said the 250F might be out as early as this fall !
Mostlikely wont be a fuel injection system but a carb (pumper), because of the AMA rules.
I was planning on getting a GG200 next year, I just might want to see what the 4-stroke will be like, the reason I sold my 250F YZ was mainly the starting and the seat height.

Thats fine, I'd prefer them to keep it simple and lighter. E-start is a must have though. YZ/WR 250Fs are starting to show up in good condition on dealers' used bike floors, as the hot weather restarting seems to be a big problem after a fall from what I've seen in the woods this summer.

Ktm 250 4T

I have just finished reading a test on the 2002 250 4T ktm on a Greek magazine. The test was written with the help of Giovanni Sala, yes THE Giovanni Sala, and what it says is that the litle 250 is ready and it will come to Greece until late July.
The bike is really good (as all KTMs) as a setup, but needs work on the performance factor because it is based on the 400 EXC and the motor refuses to revv up like a WR-F being an easy target for a good 125.
Ktm is currently building a brand new motor especially for the small bore Katoom and it will be a very competitive high revving package for the future.

For 2002 the weight is at 112 Kg
Bore X Stroke: 66,4x72
Carb:Keihin MX FCR 35mm
Ingition: Kokusan 4K-3B
Caster at : 26.5
Length:1481+-10
Ground distance:385
Six (6) speed ratio
Final gearing 14/50
Seat Hight:925

This is all I can translate so, I hope they come handy in case you want to buy the bike!

EXACTLY what I was afraid of, releasing that puppy is only going to hurt the RFS image.:(

Good luck all. My dealer has been saying the GG 250 Thumper was just a few months away since the fall of 1999. IT'S A MYTH! When it does finally show up, I'll probably already have worn out a Husky 250 thumper and be looking for a new bike.
