With all this talk about which Oil to use I thought I might add my thoughts. I have a modified XR400 on which I normally run amsoil 20w/50. Recently I tried plain Honda GN4 mineral oil. The most obvious difference was the how smooth gear shifting suddenly became! It was a worthwhile difference. Have other riders on other bikes noticed this ? For years I always used plain Castrol semi-synthetic without any problem, but started using expensive synthetic oils, probably more because of the marketing process than any real need. If one changes oil regularly and does not run the bike to its limits, synthetics are probably just a waste of money.

very true. Really no need to use highly expensive synthetics on anything unless something like the CRF that has two seperate holdings for the oil.
