No, I'm not Canadian!

I'm 40 and just got my son his first dirt bike. A Yamaha TTR 125. And I'm getting my daughter one too - a Kawasaki KLX 110.

My dirt riding experience began a long long time ago, in 1976 with a Yamaha YZ 80. I ran the piss out of that thing.

Anyway, I haven't ridden a dirt bike since then, but hopped on my son's TTR 125 and had a blast. Climbing hills is my favorite!

Anyway, I've got the bug and I want to get a dirt bike for myself to ride along with my kids. I've got my heart set on a 250cc 2-stroke, particularly the Honda CR 250R. Yeah, I know it's a competition bike and a real monster, but that's the reason it appeals to me! I'd probably get bored pretty quick of something that I wasn't capable of killing myself on it.

As far as other riding experience goes, I've been riding a street bike for a while. I've had a '84 Honda Nighthawk 450, a '85 Yamaha FJ 1100, and currently a 2004 Harley V-Rod.

Welcome to DRN, my first bike was a '76 RM 80. Go for the CR cause you can kill your self on a tricycle, but then thats no fun :)
Lots of people here had a long riding layoff but they like you are back.

Congrats

Welcome to the site

Thanks for setting up your User CP and updated information relating to your location. Grab a spot on the couch and tell us a bit about yourself. How long you have been riding, what kind of riding you prefer, where you are located, etc. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts.

Check out the Southern Spodes forum for opportunities to hook up with fellow DRNers. Kick some bootie in there and get some rides going.

Again, welcome to the site and shout if you have any questions!

As far as dirt riding goes I haven't since the '70s when I had my YZ 80.

But I've been street riding for a while.

I prefer all kinds of riding. Street, trails, hill climbing....

Like I said, I got my son a TTR 125 and I like riding it as much as he does. He's afraid of the hill though. I was too when I was his age. But I got on the dirt bike of his and didn't think twice about going up those large sttep hills. It was a blast.

Now I want something with unlimited power for myself.

I just got my daughter a Kawasaki KLX 110 so my kids can ride together now.

We are in North Georgia.
