I had the crank bearing go on my 01 RM125

I pressed in new bearings my self . On the re-assembly , I got the left side of the motor together . So the trans has the cover on it , as i started working omn thr right side . I Noticed that when i moved the shifter up and down . It didn't seem like it was going into any gears . I turn the input shaft and the drive shaft rotates but i can stop it no prob.

I have the manual and am sure that I re-assembled it correctly ..Am i missing something :bang:

any ideas ????????????

did you put the rest of the motor together? ie, the shift drum - the clutch etc? sounds to me the forks (if installed correctly) have the bike in gear. (meaning you are not in neutral). You would be able to grab the input shaft and stop the output shaft from turning - think of what the clutch does (the plates slip) until you are in gear and then they grab. both shafts turn simulaneously as one unit (ie, the input and output shafts are connected).

when i turn the input shaft , the out put turns as well . But as i'm turning the input shaft . I can stop the out putwith one hand and still turn the input with the other . And i can't seem to get it to go in any gear .

And no . I stopped assy. soon as this came to my attn.

Then you are in neutral.

Let me step back. This is what I picture. You have the case halves together. So you put the crank and the tranny back in - you put the shift forks and pins in the tranny, then the case halves and bolted it up. Now you are staring a motor with no flywheel, no clutch, etc. You are putting the shifter on the shift shaft and trying to get the bike in gear? Am I understanding? If so you need to put rest of the shifting drum together - meaning, connect the DRUM (that is inside the tranny, connected to the shift forks) to the shift shaft (the foot selector that slide through the clutch side). Do I have the clear picture? If not, explain again I'll try to get it.

I will post pics asap . when it assembled correctly . I should be able to index through the gears . Before I install clutch & fly wheel ? ................. right ?

I put the 2 halves together. Bench test the trany by turning it. both input and output will spin but the bike will be in nuetral (the input and output shafts won't be connected by any gear) - once the drum and springs are all hooked up you SHOULD be able to index your way through the gears - Its usually harder to shift than you think - for one you're using a hand not a foot and you have very little leverage with the motor not mounted.

Like i said i could click the shifter rod up and down and it didn'tseem to get into any gears . Rookie @ 2 stroke building . i don't wanna go any fahter till i no the trans is OK
