so im starting to look at new bikes cuz my current bike will probably be going to my little bro or sis soon (im getting a little big for it anywayz) so im wondering....

ive been looking at the KTM 250XC and the SX

and i want to know if the sx is any louder. one major thing my dad doesnt like is the 2stroke sound. but then he also doesnt like how loud the 4 strokes are.

If your only problem is choosing between a loud and quiet bike there are many different choices, and things you can do to make it suit your needs. XC will be quiter stock, but still a bit more of an irritant compared to your 150R. Either way slap on an fmf Q silencer and you'll notice a big difference in noise level.

yea i have a q on my 150 but its still loud. i was thinking on the q anyways. i really just need to get the bike by telling my dad its quieter then he will just say to get the q.

as for the power. its not a prob. i have ridden 450's.

flyingfuzzball, i have ridden 450s but a 250SX is alot scaryer then say a YZ450F. I think you would be better suited for a KTM 200XC because it is quiter then your current bike.

They are great, or at least i think they are. Because there light and very sharp turnning you could easily turn the little 200 form trail mild to track wild. The pipe is the most limiting factor but the proper top end porting you will have an awsome track and trail machine. You should get a 2003 200SX flywheel to get a better power for track.

Is the 200 like and off road bike or a track bike? My dad wanted to get me a 144, but I'm gonna be riding 150's and 85's until im 15.
Are you riding mostly tracks?

150rguy, my friend Colton has a 2003 KTM 200SX witch is the motocross bike but the newer 2008 KTM 200XC is super light and can make a great track and trail bike. I have riden it on the track and its the perfect in between bike. I have a track that only 10 of us ride and we have been going there alot the last while and it is definitly funner to ride then a 250 because its light but imagine it as a really fast 125.

whatever you do don't get any form of 125. Also what kind of riding are you doing. If its mx track and you're a bigginer/novice get a 250. 4 or 2 it don't matter you'll like them both and tell you dad to stop whining about dirt bike noise. 2 strokes sound cool and 4 strokes are great to go riding with because you can always tell where their at because their sound carries
