Grabby YZ426F Clutch

Change the oil every 500 miles or so (bike is used to commute) and have tried various plates - always grabby.

Any solutions?

what do the fingers on the clutch basket look like? If they have notches, that'll cause grabbiness. If they're not too deep, you may be able to get by with just filing the fingers smooth. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend a Hinson clutch basket (or similar billet product)

What year is your bike? If it is an '00 the only real cure is to swap in some updated parts from an '01.

the basket is fine, didn#t know about the modified pieces on the 01 (mines a 00).... can you be more specific please?

There are three pieces you need to update 1. Special friction plate
2. Large washer
3. Large conicle shaped washer.
What it does is go between the first and second friction plate to keep the plates from sticking to the clutch hub. Actually the new friction plate you buy will allow both washers to fit inside of it. Inside diameter is larger than the stock plates. All the pieces are OEM from Yamamha. Just look at the fische and you can see what and where they go. ten minute fix no more grabby squeaky clutch.

The above replaces the stock '00 first pair of friction/steel plates.

These new parts do change the clutch throw, and you may want to order the '01 actuation part that is different:


93511-32027-00


Just a ball bearing that goes on the end of the actuation rod.
