I just got back from Hangtown a few hours ago and decided to throw up a few pictures. Hope you like them. C&C is more than welcome. (A flash would have made this shot better).

Good Stuff, were you making a conscious effort to keep the shutter speeds down to include some wheel spin etc?

Thanks Chili. I definitely wanted to show some wheel spin, but I think I could have benefitted by bumping up the shutter speed a bit. I think I would have had a higher percentage of keepers if I had done that. I was shooting shutter priority and was hovering around 1/400 - 1/600 for most of the day. I probably should have gone up closer to 1/1000 to really stop the action. It probably would have helped tone down some of the blown highlights, like on the Millsaps shot. Some of the shots were looking pretty good on my miniscule LCD (350D) but when I got them up on my monitor I could see lots of mistakes I made.

So I've got plenty to remember for next year. For some of the closer shots I should have thrown on my Speedlite just to fill the shadows a bit. And I'm really bad at panning. Practice, practice, practice!

Any other tips you have would be greatly appreciated.

Cool shot of me and the Mrs HAHA! Hey are you going to put some of the shots up in a gallery? That one of Stewart you got is magazine quality, good job. Good seeing you out there, dont say anything about the pit entrance LOL

I thought you'd like that shot! I'll definitely put those in a gallery, probably not until next weekend though. That was actually a great lesson on getting into the pits. If you're trying to gain access and don't have a wrist band, just drape a big lens over your wrist and act like you belong there!
