Oh - you mean like in this first pic? :bang: I basically had NO fun after this flat. First 4 sections went OK (for my low standards at least) - crappy start - bike did not start first kick - so I came out last eating dust the whole way. Checked out on the same minute as CR250 and Silver (two of The Mikes on row 45) though they scored me 1 minute later in the posted results. 2nd section was long, and arm pump was killing me. 3rd and 4th OK. Near end of 5th section, I now realize my tire was going flat, and at the restart for section 6, it was totally flat. I put some zip ties on to help make sure it would not spin on the rim, and rode all of section 6 on the flat, then the 9 mile transfer to the second gas - so in total about 18 miles on the flat. At the gas stop, with the help of my son Mitch, I managed to get a new tube put in, but it seemed to not want to cooperate, and took forever. ( Mully - thanks for helping Mark gas my bike up etc. btw). I checked into section 7 13 minutes late. I carried that 13 minutes basically through the rest of the afternoon - I was riding in a "hurry" - wasting tons of energy, bobbling on every simple little thing. Prior to this point, physcially I was doing OK - arm pump was a factor as it always is, but managable. But in section 7 legs cramps set in for me - I think it was getting to cooled off and crouching down doing the tire that set the stage for that. By section 8, I was mentally out of the race - simply riding for the sake of getting to the end. I guess the good news is, I finished the race, did not hour out in spite of a flat tire. Fact is, it is not that long ago that I basically houred out on every race I did! I have a bunch of pics to post - most are from the FES event...stay tuned. First pic here - tells the story of how my day was from section 5 onward... Next pic - Mully pitches in gasing up my bike. (thanks!) third pic - The Mikes start - that is me waaaaay back, CR250 in front (he let the A and B rider on our minute go ahead of him), followed by Silver (Mike L.) I did manage to get within a few feet of Mike L by the time we entered the woods the first time though! Dusty!
