Celebrated yesterday with Spider by doing a 100 lap go Kart race. It was interesting- the karts (turnkey rentals) did a top speed of 60MPH on a 1/2 mile roadcourse. It was about 82 degrees out with 100% humidity (it rained 2 times for short periods during the race) at the start. I was at a big disadvantage in the weight to power ratio but Spider made up on his times in the Kart. At the first driver change (25 laps) I had us sitting in 10th out of 18. Spider quickly moved us up to 5th before I got back in. 10 Laps in I was sure I was going to puke in my helmet from the heat (we had to wear skid jackets, gloves, and fullface helmets) and ended up signalling Spider to get ready for a change at 65 laps. When he jumped in we were back to about 14th but he fought through and finished us in 7th. He made a lot of headway as many guys were spinning out on the wet track while he just kept plowing through.
We were both exhausted and dehydrated at the end but both agreed it was a great day. Today when I woke up I felt all of my 70 years in every joint from the race
