Hello,

I have an Honda CR250. I recently changed fork springs and now that I have reassembled the forks they make a scratching or rubbing sound inside the fork tube when compressed. The sound seems to be coming from just the seal area but it's hard to tell for sure. I followed the steps in my owners for changing the fork oil, then removed the center bolt, push rod, and damper system. I swapped springs, put in new oil and reassembled. Where did I make a mistake? The bike is almost new. It has less than 2 hours of riding on it.

NOn oem springs are often slightly large or narrow-and do make a rubbing noise, often it causes no problem unless its excessive.

True like Marcus said. Also aftermarket springs aren't buffed or polished on the outside like the OEM springs from Showa. Because of this they add stiction and can be noisy, and unfortunately contaminate the oil with their friction.
