Hi there.

I'm abt 185cm and 80kg w/o riding gear

I have a 92 Yamaha WR200.
As I find the stock spring soft, I often bottom my rear on small easy jumps, I got my hands on a 98 WR400 stock rear shock spring which I believe is 5.0kg.

When I took out my stock spring and put on the WR400 spring, I noticed that the spring lengthe difference is quite obvious.

The 92 WR200 spring length is 280mm.
The 98 WR400 is abt an inch more of so shorter.

Anyway, to cut a long story short.
I've turned in the preload adjuster to the max. and somehow I feel that the rear shock is worse.

After some research, I've came to realise that my 92 rear shock
is rated 5.2 which I dunno how true it is.

If it's rated 5.2, how do I know the spring is "sacked out" or "used"??? The stock length measures 280mm and it still is. Will
a "sacked out" spring "shrink"?

I chose to use the WR400 spring as I tried my friend's bike and it felt pretty stiff even though the bike weighs so heavy hence my choice of the spring.

Any idea what is the rear shock spring length for a stock WR400???
Is the one I'm using now "sacked out" and hence the shorter length?

I've checked from the racetech website that the 6228 model is listed as length 275mm.

Willl a 275mm length 5.2 spring behave like a 280mm 5.2kg spring???

Cos I'll be ordering one from the States and can't afford to choose the wrong weight due to add. incurred expenses and time.

Any recommended setup and possible explanations to my queries???
