The rubber seat that the reed valves sit on has been torn off of my dads '84 yz 125. Does anyone know if I can get another one new/used. Does a reed valve aftermarket kit include the rubber seal??
Or does anyone have an old/new one sitting around that is in good cond. that they would be willing to sell? i have called all the local dealers and none say they can get it.

any help is aprechiated!
thanks

Do you not have a wreckers (bike dismantler/salvage) near you? Yamaha usually have quite common reedblocks between models of that era & I’m sure you could match one up close enough (although not all will deal with dirtbikes & I guess you never got most of the road going 2-strokes).

As the bike is hardly this years model any minor change in flow rate will be inconsequential.

It might be you call/e-mail a few & if any sound promising post them the old one to match up.

if it is the same bolt pattern/size as 1980-84 465/490's a 94 yz 250 will fit.

Buy the gasket for the 88 to 94 yz 250 and see how well of a match it is.

david, there was a guy around here that had a few older parts bikes around here, il check with him, im not sure how great some of the things are thought.

jmics, i tried the block from our 82(give or take a year or two) IT250 parts bike and it was far too wide, i dont think it will fit, but we have an 1992 YZ250 that i will try, but will it be big like the IT's?
the bike still runs strong(except for this mess up), so my dad wants to get a little more time out of it before he sells it, it is far from being a parts bike.

Did you check Ebay? I remember seeing several 1985 YZ125 reed blocks on there for around $10 US. If my memory is correct a 1984 and 1985 YZ125 were mechanically the same bike and the only difference was that Yamaha changed the color scheme from yellow and white to red and white.

I found that reed block by searching for YZ and I had the in titles and descriptions box checked. It was about a week ago though. I am searching right now as I type, I'll let you know if I find anything.
