Help with 03 kx 250

I got a gnarly pipe for my bike, and it came with the "shim" for the power valve. I don't have a service manual to show how to get to the power valve. Can anyone explain this procedure to me. Service manual takes a week to get, and I want to ride. PS, I have the paper from FMF to show where to put the shim, just doesn't show the tear down to get to it. I'm having a hard time picturing where on earth a shim would attach on the kips valve. The kips valve on the 03 is all gear driven so I dont know where you could attach a shim to adjust timing.


Is it possible that the shim is supposed to go on the governor?
