hi i am new to the forum, i am looking into getting my first bike. i have had 2 quads, a modded blaster and now a warrior. i know i want a 2 stroke bike but i dont know which 1. i am 5'11 and 145 pounds i was looking at the kx100 because my dealer has them on sale and i cant spend 2 much because i need a car soon. will this bike handle me? i wont b doing heavy jumping just 5 ft in the air..how fast does this bike go stock i heard it gos 60+ can the motor handle a higher gear ratio because i mostly just do on road driving? the last bike i road was a cr500 and that was a little to big for me but i liked the power!

thanks

You are probably too tall for the 100. Weight wise, you are more suited for a 125 or bigger. What is your main type of riding going to be. This is a big determining factor. 60mph is a little high for the 100. Top speed is generally irrelevant, because you can change gearing to suit your riding preferences. I think that the 100 would be a mistake for someone of your size. Your comfort would be comprimised.

Im 6' and weigh 150. I bought my girlfriend whos 5ft 1 a kx 100. The truth of the matter is is that its my 15 minutes of fame bike. its a fun toy for someone my size. but you can only ride it for about 15 minutes before your bodys sore from being cramped up. Id go with a kdx. they are the most taken for granted bike that there is. they are way better than they are ever talked up into being.
the kx 100 would be a fun bike for you if its your second bike that you use as a joke. Dont spend your hard earned money on something that small. It probably is about the same speed as a kx 125!!! If speed is what you want the kdx is a 6 spd. and really does go faster than it looks.

You are too big for the KX 100.

Your going to want a KX 125. I was in your position at one point, and I am only 5'7 115 pounds and I ride my KX 125 fine. I love it, and I am very happy I went with it over the KX 100.

Were you going to buy the KX 100 new? I was going to buy an 04' KX 100 for 3250$, when the dealer showed me some leftover 2003 KX 125s for only 3200$!!! I thought it over and went with the 125 and I don't regret a second of it. Expecially at that height your gonna be cramped on a KX 100. Go with the 125, see if any dealers have any leftover models. I ended up paying only around 3800$ with all the tax + extra fees + shipping. Saved over 2200$ when compared to a new one!

CaNaDiAn,Eh?

I think a KDX 200 or 220 would be a great bike for you. It's got good power right off the start, is less maintainence than a motocross bike and you can easily put enough mods on it to turn it into a fire breathing monster.

A new 2004 KX 125 will run you about $6,000 when you are done with the actual price (which is the $5,000 MSRP) + They get you on a bunch of fees that come out of nowhere + shipping + tax etc.. Like I said, I got a brand new, left over 2003 KX 125 for only $3,800 total with all the fees (it was regular $3,200)

And thats really unfortuanate about the dealer :whiner:

You never really stated what kind of riding you're doing. Also are you wanting a street legal bike? If not you won't need to worry about getting 60+mph out of a KX100. A KDX(it is a 2 stroke) tops out at 70. Both the KDX and KX125 are versitile bikes but if your racing MX a 125 would do better.

So your going to be on dirt roads and paved roads but not legally, right?:joke: If your going long distances or high speeds for long periods a 4 stroke might be better. OTOH I think a KDX made street legal is a awesome choice as long as you aren't on the highway a lot. If your looking for some road speed you need more cc's than 125. Are you doing any other trail or MX riding too?
