First question- the stock plug lead on a RM65 (aka KX65); does it just screw into the coil like most bikes, and can I replace it with a stranded NGK lead/boot? I'm thinking of replacing it because:

My son's 03 RM65 has begun cutting out at high rpms, particularly in the first 3 gears. Because it's been quite cold here (40-50F), I went from a 190 to a 200, then to a 210 main, and dropped the clip to the lowest slot. The day I moved to the 210 it ran fine, but the next day the sputter was back (same ambient temps). If you roll on the throttle it seems to do better than sustaining high rpms. Not that it matters, but the pilot is a 27.5, everything else is stock. Starts fine, runs good until the top-end.

Top end is fresh, as is the fuel. Air filter is clean, muffler is not clogged.

Any ideas are appreciated, little man wants to ride. :ride:
