honda xr100r will not start

I just bought a honda xr100r. It will not start. I checked and there is no compression. Also the kick start can be pulled down with ease. Can anyone help me single down a problem?

Start with the logical things first.

- Verify the crankshaft is rotating when the kickstarter is depressed.

- Check the valve adjustment. If the valves are too tight and not closing all the way there will be no compression. At the same time verify the camshaft is timed correctly.

If you still have no compression after getting the above items correct then it's probably time to open up the engine.
