hot start

i was wondering what exactly hot start is and what it does. any help would be appreciated :bang:

You are correct, it lets in more air and leans out the mixture so you can start an engine that may be flooded.

I thought it was to get fresh cool air into the combustion chamber .


When riding the bike for a while and the engine is hot, i thought you open the hot start button and cycle in some fresh cool air then kick it over.


Its worked for me.

A hot four stroke needs a lean mix to start. The hot start creates an air "leak" so the engine will start. Basically a reverse choke.

FYI do not forget to cut the hot start off.

If you leave it on it will seem as if your throttle is sticking and it will backfire a ton.
