I plan on getting a room. Is anybody else flying in midweek? Would be nice to share a room and car.

If all goes as planned I will have a friendly So Cal member haul my bike out.

Jeff, why not ride out with me? I'll be camping in a tent at the track again, it was a blast. You won't want to stay in a room but maybe we can split it for the shower and such. You should camp, have to BE the ground to enjoy DW.:)

Elk- I wont be able to miss work for the entire week. I think I can get away with Wed. through Fri. I might go ahead and pull up a corner of the tent and split the room for showers.

Sounds like camping is the best way to enjoy DW 03 any suggestions what to bring. You know like what small thing did you wish you had brought with you last year that you,ll bring this year.

Steve - A lot of people bring tents. I had one with me, but never set it up.

I slept under a tarp. I will have my daughter and grandson (hopefully), so I will likely have a family type tent for them.

The weather was great this year. Cool evenings (one that got cold if you are warm blooded) and only one night of rain (30 minutes or so). Temps were 45~55 as night and 65~80 during the day. Can't guarantee the same, but that is usual for that time of the year.

I assume Jack and Diane will be back so don't waste your money on breakfast and lunch (except snacks and maybe stuff for the kids). Dinners are al a carte, which means you can go from camp to camp sampling food! Seriously, I still have 4 packages of brats and 5 packages of ribs left over from the last DW. I hope to finish them in the next month or so. Everyone kinda overdoses on supper. Jack delivered ice every night for coolers and Wallyworld is only about 20 minutes away, so that about coveres everything else.

We (some of us that are within a few hours of Cooperland) are going to get together regarding showers, power, dump stations etc. after the first of the year. More news at 11:00, as they say .....

Regarding comfort .... I don't know if you camp or not, so I don't know what you have, but ....

  • tent - big enough for the entire family.
  • air matresses or cots and bedding. The ground is not hard, but you will want everyone to remember how much FUN they had.
  • there will likely be no need for heat. Normally tents are 10~15 degrees warmer than the surrounding air because of people breathing.

Some of the folks with kids will, no doubt, jump in. Post or PM me with any questions that come up.

288 days and counting!!!! :yeehaw:

Steve T, the weather here is simular to Birmingham at that time of year without as much humidity. Tony is right, it is not likely you will loose weight at DW03 so throw the diet to the wind and enjoy. I would like to endorse several DRN'rs chef type talents, TXBigguy, TX246, and Fred T. :worship: The 'ol taste buds miss them.

<Insert obvious soap joke here>

Steve, camping is the way to go. I thought about getting a room last year, but after the first night I decided to just hang at the track.

I was in the RV this past year but also brought 2 tents. I loaned one to firecracker22 and the other never got set up. I'll be bringing again this year for anyone that needs to borrow.

Tent it definately.

Things I'll bring to 03 that I wished I had in 02:

1) A better paintball gun
2) Animal snares
3) A book on spiders and how to identify them
4) The book called "Dingo Talk, how to communicate with the mighty beast"
5) Lobster cages
6) More bug repellant
7) Extra parts for bike
8) More clothes to change into
9) Book on relocating dislocated joints
10) More night vision goggles
11) WD-40 for the cooler hinges
That's all I can think of for now.:)

Steve - There were parts available on site for DW02. I am sure something will be worked out for next year as well.

No EMT on site, but I can assure you that the ER in Stillwater will take good care of you, if needed. They took good care of me, No Mo. Tree jumper, Blackhawk, Oldguy .... I think that is about it. Apologies to anyone I missed.

Never been carted off yet!!! I just would hate for anyone to get hurt and not have quick help. Two many times i have seen riders get in trouble and not have someone there to help them.

There are three bike shops in town. One of the shops was making really good deals on bikes last year. There was also a parts supplier there as well as mothead00. That guy has everything you would ever need in his trailer. :p
