Hour Meter?

After having to rebuild my motor because of a failed piston skirt, I've decided to try and stay on top of my top end replacements.. I figure the only way to do this accurately is to count the time the bike is spent running, and an hour meter from a tractor would be perfect if it could be made to work..

Do they just take 12V in, and return some count?

How often would you recommend replacing the rings? How about the piston?

Thanks,

Jon!

For reference sakes, I put through over 20L of 2 stroke oil at 40:1 this summer alone.. I think I'll be into a few rebuilds per season.

Yamaha makes an hour meter that will work on any bike. TWMX did a review on it and gave it 10out of 10.

The speedometer I use has an hour meter, along with a bunch of other info. Like trip distance, total distance, trip tiime, total time, max speed, average speed, and current speed. It was originaly for a bicycle, but for $25.00 plus the $7.00 extnesion cable, I couldn't say no.
