I bought a renthal 520 non-o-ring chain and I was wondering how to shorten. It is much to loose when I have the back tire set all the way back too. I have heard that you can use a grinder to shorten it but I don't have one of those. Can you hit it with a hammer? If someone can tell me another way to shorten it, I would much appreciate it! Thanks!

I've had success with a small punch and a small quarter drive socket. Set the socket on the ground and lay the chain over top of the socket. Use the punch to drive the pin into the socket.

That being said, it's 100 times easier with a Dremel or a chain breaker.

If you can't do it yourself, take the chain to a local bike shop. Sometimes they will do this for free and if not, would probably on charge a small fee.
